with a priming coat of ADIFIX thinned as specified and allow to dry. Proceed with the application of a basecoat
using FONDO UNIVERSALE thinned in the recommended doses.
Previously painted surfaces: Check that the state of the existing paintwork is in excellent condition, if so,
proceed directly with the application of the FONDO UNIVERSALE, as described in the previous paragraph.
If the surface shows signs of defects, such as peeling or chalking, remove any loose parts that would compromise
the correct adhesion of the product then proceed as indicated hereabove for New unpainted surfaces.
Preparing the required color
Travertinus in powder form: Mix the powder with about 40-45% of water using a low speed mixer. After having thoroughly mixed the product, let the material sit for approximately 15 minutes before use. The mixed product can be used in 4 h. Travertinus P is supplied in paste form, ready to use. Coloring: Travertinus is supplied and can be used white or it can be colored and protected by applying one or two top coats of Velé to give a soft antique effect. It is also possible to tint the paste itself with the use of Tinter series DTX.
Application
Mix the TRAVERTINUS powder with 40-45% of clean water and blend together thoroughly with the help of a
low-speed mechanical mixer.
Allow the mixture to rest for about 15 minutes before use.
Apply a first smooth and uniform rendering coat of product to the wall with a stainless-steel trowel, to a
thickness of about 2 mm without leaving edge marks or surface defects.
After perfect drying (at least 12 hours in normal temperature and humidity conditions) apply a second coat in
the same way. During hot weather, it is advisable to wet the support before applying both the first and the
second coat.
Before the applied second coat starts to dry, scrape the surface firmly with a 6 to 10 cm stainless-steel spatula,
holding it at right-angle, perpendicular to the wall in order to form a number of scratch marks, typical of
travertine marble. The decorator will decide how many marks to create based on the desired final effect.
At this point, you can also create effects such as block marks, grout lines or other designs. Use a straightedge
and the back of a brush or an appropriate tool to help in this operation.
Before complete drying, trowel down the entire work using good pressure. This is an important phase in which
the TRAVERTINUS coating becomes compact and burnished. In case of excessive, but not complete, drying, the
applied product can be sprayed with water in order to extend the working time.
